Wireless HDMI

60GHz wireless HDMI offers near-zero latency and uncompressed video for short-range, line-of-sight connections — ideal for gaming and AR experiences.
2.4GHz/5GHz wireless HDMI offers longer range, improved wall penetration, and in some cases, the ability to stream over local networks or access video via a web browser, as well as support for screen mirroring through AirPlay or Miracast. However, it comes with slightly higher latency and compression. Best suited for presentations, web browsing, and Zoom meetings — not ideal for gaming.
Streaming encoders are IP-based devices that compress and transmit video over local networks or the internet, commonly used for live broadcasting, remote viewing, or integration with software like OBS.

Note: Better for gaming due to 60GHz wireless. This one is the only option on here that has built-in battery and one of the two options on here that directly connects to XREAL Glasses. The cooling station also features a USB port, allowing you to connect a mouse or keyboard when the transmitter is plugged directly into the PC’s HDMI port.

App-Enabled TV Tuners

Cut the cord and stream live/recorded TV to any device! App-enabled tuners (like HDHomeRun or Tablo) connect to your antenna or cable, then broadcast channels over Wi-Fi to phones, tablets, smart TVs, and apps like Plex or Jellyfin—no cable box needed.

  • ATSC 1.0:
Free, unencrypted HD broadcasts (1080p/720p) compatible with all OTA tuners. Currently, ATSC 1.0 broadcasts will continue through at least June 2027.

  • ATSC 3.0 (Non-DRM):
No access to DRM-encrypted channels — only unencrypted 4K/HDR broadcasts. Most of the major broadcast networks (CBS, NBC, etc) are going to transition to DRM-encrypted ATSC 3.0.

  • ATSC 3.0 (DRM):
Access to DRM-encrypted channels (e.g., CBS/NBC in some markets) with approved hardware. Best/safest option if you want to watch the major broadcast networks (CBS, NBC, etc) in the future.

For the latest updates on ATSC 3.0, FCC regulations, and government policies, check out this YouTuber’s in-depth analysis.
